Not to mention everyday I have some 15 year old asking for a ride somewhere. Asking to buy them smokes and what not. My favorite is when they talk about how far they have gone with a girl subject which comes up everyday. Then they ask me and I just give them this shitty grin. what am I suppose to tell these kids, I drink every night untill I offend someone or get laid, I am a womanizer, I manage a meat department and I am not interested in "Hooking a brother up" with some smokes

i'm also the ripe age of 24 and am always down the park with a 3-day growth and a tall beer. so i'm instantly into the 'old bastard' group

their endless energy pisses me off.

I'll be 25 soon, and I feel real old at the park. 12 year olds that couldn't do anything last year are out there riding way better than I can.

My only saving grace is that I go way faster than those little shitstains.

Don't move out or the Midwest....it's sweet here. I'm 37 and starting to feel old everywhere but the skatepark. If we're at a skatepark at all then we're all young at heart and I think that's better than actually being young. We're adults with jobs, wives, and homes, but still able to shred on these little kids bikes...we have the best of both worlds.

I'm probably the youngest posting in this forum so far, being 23 and nearly 24, but I'm still complaining.

I feel old when I crash and it hurts to get up then and the next day. Instead of being psyched on the younger crowd I seem to find their faults and run with it. I'm happy I can buy beer, get trashed, ride my bike, be a nomad and smile.

I saw a Dak/Williams/Dehart/Cleveland clone today at the skatepark, complete with a comeup shirt, fit drop stem, and a reservoir tip hat. Pretty sure he was picked up by his mom. Watching him ride made me cringe. Knees together and squatting inches above his slammed seat at all times. Yuck.

BMX, like life, is a generational thing.

The first generation builds it.

The second generation spends it.

The third generation fucks it all up and loses it.

Ever since we got a cement park last summer, the prefab park is always empty except for maybe a kid here and there. It's nice. If I'm in a good mood I'll head to the cement park and dodge kids for half an hour before getting pissed. That's when I'll pick up some Beast Ice and head to the pre fab.

Very well said. I think bmx is a sort of fountain of youth. Although it still can amke you age faster due to injuries.

Where I usually ride, I'm almost always the oldest guy at the park, but when I have time to ride it's usually pretty empty. There's an older skater guy that I exchange pleasantries with and can semi-relate to. I pretty much stick to myself and am happiest when no one else is around, but then again, that's pretty much true off the bike as it is on it, and is as much a function of my personality as it is of my age.

Stupid kids. Scram.

So I just got back from my "training" session today and it was the same thing. Heres the kicker though I left my toolbox at home which I never do and sure enough I snap my peddle in half and put a hole in my shin the size of an elephant poop. So I'm asking all these fucks if they have a wrench to borrow and none of them carry tools with them. They all have backpacks that are filled with snacks and god knows what else. I swear out of 10-15 bikers not a single one had a wrench. HOW THE FUCK DO THEY FIX THERE BIKE WHEN THEY BREAK IT???

Wait a minute thats right none of them do a god damn thing except bug me to buy them smokes. So my session gets cut short while I play with this hole in my shin

I am probably the bane of skatepark moms. I tell their kids "you've got it, just go faster/pull up harder." I did manage to get my 10 year old neighbor to do a no hander out of a 6 foot bowl last night.

I am all about the kids.

I got it real bad. I'm shaving my head when I turn 25. Few more months. I might do it when it gets hot enough to get a tan in a day on my freshly shaven head, but we'll see.

I used to make fun of my balding dad, but I caught up to him, and then passed him about a year ago. Karma.

All I know is Joey Crank is the worst thing in BMX

Where did you come from?
I am the only person in this thread who gets that reference.

I'm 26 and I have two grey hairs. I used to be the oldest rider in town, but not anymore.

Seriously felt my age tonight at the park. I think it is the knee pads.

Or it could be the part where I had to leave early to get home and get my kid's easter baskets set up.

Kids love some zombie Jesus day.

I wear knee pads as well. I have good reason because I shattered my knee cap a few years back. I don't know how some people don't wear them

I want to wear them so bad but I have shadow pads and I can't move my legs for shit.... I'm scared to waste money on other pads and end up with the same results.

I don't feel old; it probably has something to do with not talking to kids at the park. It works because I'm in my own world where I'm the only rider there.

i first met chase hawk when he was three months old. then one day this loudmouthed little kid shows up at ninth street about 7 years later, riding across landings, talking shit about how he stays up until 2am. two years later he can jump every line in the place and is probably one of the people i enjoy riding with the most because he just never stops and is always stoked, now over ten years later the little bastard is doing tables to footjam nosepicks and has everyone copping his style. THAT shit makes you feel old.

23, almost 24. I feel old when my body feels like a giant bruise for 72 hours after riding the park. Kids these days are way too good and I don't find it discouraging until they snake my run because they got no damn brakes! It's funny that i'm old school because i have a rear brake with straight cable and run 3, sometimes 4 pegs. Whatever, lil bitches can't grind hardly at all!

Theres a 14 year old kid at my local park that seems to think Im his big fucking brother because I was nice to him sometimes. He used to be one of the annoying little mountain bike kids who would sit on the deck and yell about doing fly out airs.

Now hes shredding on a bmx and I swear everytime I show up to the park he has to show me his new trick that he can do. Its always something that I used to do all the time back when he was hanging on the deck with his other faggot friends.

At first I found it annoying but now I figure, hell, hes exactly like I probably was when I was younger, watching the older bmx dudes and stealing their style.

Now hes actually one of the funner kids to ride with at the park because hes stoked on everything and anything to do with riding, its not a competition, and he listens to every word I say.

Hes 14, Im 20, and it wont be long when hes way the fuck better than me.

But as long as I live I will never let him know that. Little bastard.

At the age of 25 I am almost certain I am the oldest guy on a BMX in my town. There's a handful skaters who are older than me...but other than them I am usually the oldest at the skatepark.

The three guys I ride with are all 24, then there's a couple 16-17 year old dudes but they aren't around all that much.

Around here BMX is just your transportation to the swimming pool. Nobody really gives a fuck about it. It's kind of cool.

your posts are always so overly dramatic, and it's super gay. if a kid is born in 1994, of course he is'nt going to know what the barcode is... he was 8 years old when everyone else here was riding it... jump off a cliff and take alaskan with you

I don't do any tricks really, just manoevers, and don't feel the least bit bad about it. That's when I feel old at the skatepark in a good way - not feeling obligated to go for the gold, or whatever.

Well, i'm sorry you feel that way.

We're all having fun regardless of age. I'm just upset about my "ripe years" of bmx are behind me and the new crowd is building on to what the generation before them built. It's a part of life. I dont want to accept it and it's upsetting somewhat.

Feeling old at the skatepark brings me an extra sense of satisfaction for any old tricks I can hang onto and occasionally doing something new.

Having the same kind of fun with less time available, that's a challenge I'm psyched on...for now. Oh and I'm almost 27 and regularly hold the "most gray hair" title everywhere I go, awesome.
